If you’re interested in learning more about being a Bridges student host, please contact Ron Blassingame, senior admission counselor, at Ron.Blassingame@MiamiOH.edu.

What is the Bridges Program?

For more than 40 years, Miami University’s Bridges Program has been welcoming high school students from diverse backgrounds to campus. It was founded by Black students who wanted a Miami degree to be more accessible to underrepresented student populations.

Today, 600 prospective Miami students participate in the overnight Bridges program each year, and those who enroll at Miami as first-year college students earn a Bridges scholarship.

Central to the Bridges experience is the connection participants make with current Miami students. Current students serve as hosts for Bridges participants, meeting up with them the evening of the program’s first day, giving them a spot to sleep in their residence hall room that night, and taking them to breakfast in a student dining court the next morning.

Through their hosts, Bridges participants can envision what their college experience might be like at Miami and begin to build campus connections.

Thank you for your interest!
