The department of philosophy at Miami University has thirteen full-time faculty members with a diverse array of research interests, and offers a broad range of courses and research opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students.   We are committed to a pluralistic outlook and offer courses in Analytic, Continental, and Non-Western philosophy, with the history of philosophy emphasized as the common ground of all of these.   For undergraduates, the department offers a major and two minors (in History of Philosophy and in Ethics), as well as four Thematic Sequences.   For graduate students, we offer an M.A. with funding.   Members of the department of philosophy also edit three national philosophy journals:   Husserl Studies , The Journal of Nietzsche Studies , and Teaching Philosophy .

"Working in philosophy -- like work in architecture in many respects -- is really more a working on oneself...on one's way of seeing things (and what one expects of them)."
-Wittgenstein
