Provide input on the search for the interim provost

University Statements

President Crawford wants to hear from you

Dear Miamians,

Last week, Dr. Jason Osborne announced his decision to step down as Provost and Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs, effective June 30. I am grateful for Jason’s leadership throughout the pandemic, especially his work on Boldly Creative and the MiamiRISE strategic plan. I wish him all the best in the next stage of his career.

Identifying the right person to step in as interim provost is vital as we continue to move Miami’s mission forward. I have engaged or will engage many campus stakeholders across many units and divisions – faculty, staff, students, and other leaders, as well as leadership from our various shared governance groups and campus organizations – to collect valuable feedback about the interim provost role. These conversations are extremely beneficial for understanding the university’s needs and gaining greater insight as we look to identify our next academic leader.

This decision requires thoughtful consideration and broad input from our campus community. I will continue to gather feedback and speak with potential candidates across our campus about this pivotal and influential role. If you would like to share any thoughts or recommendations, please call my office at 9-2346 to schedule a time to talk. I hope we can announce the interim provost before the end of the semester. We will launch a national search for a permanent provost this fall.

I appreciate hearing from all of you who wish to share your thoughts. I am deeply grateful for your feedback and input into this decision. I admire everything you do for Miami and our students.

Love and Honor,

Gregory P. Crawford

President
