Miami University’s Family Weekend and Graduation Weekend are huge in Oxford with weekend long events. Family Weekend is jammed packed with a multitude of activities from sporting events, festivals, and so much more. From Thursday to Sunday, typically within the month of October, the streets of Oxford are full and alive with families and Miami traditions.

The same could be said for Commencement Weekend. Miami University takes time to celebrate the hard work and dedication from the year’s graduating seniors and post graduate students, and reflect on their special journey to this moment.

Of course, The Marcum Hotel and Conference Center is where you want to be when experiencing the university with your student.

You may be asking the question, “how can I get a room at The Marcum Hotel before it sells out for one of these weekends?” Well, we’re glad you asked.

Rooms for Family Weekend and Commencement Weekend are chosen by a lottery drawing. Here is how it works: A guest can be entered into the drawing for each night they stay with us from April 1 through March 31. Upon checkout, please ask the front desk staff for a ticket into either drawing. It must be completed with name and contact information, along with the dates of your stay.

Names are then chosen by our director the first week of April for Fall Family Weekend and the upcoming Commencement. Guests are notified immediately by the phone number listed on the lottery ticket. Oh and, please remember to save The Marcum’s phone number in your phone so that you do not miss our call.

If you do not receive a call, do not give up just yet. If a room becomes available on those weekends by way of cancellation, we will draw another name. However, it does not hurt to increase your odds by staying at The Marcum in Oxford, Ohio, multiple times throughout the year. We love having you here as our guests.

Another question we hear a lot is, “What if I forget to fill out a ticket at checkout?” If you call us, we will be able to verify submission and the nights you stayed with us in the system.
