First-Year Application Instructions for Fall 2009

To apply for first-year admission, submit the items below.

  If you are applying as an Early Decision candidate and did not yet complete the Early Decision contract (PDF 47KB), you must submit it by the November 1 deadline.
  
  
• $45 Application Fee (non-refundable)
  The application fee may be submitted online at www.commonapp.org with a credit card or electronic funds transfer from a bank account, or through the mail with a check or money order made payable to Miami University. In order to submit the application fee online, applicants must first submit the Common Application or Miami's Supplement to the Common Application online. For students who qualify, an official fee waiver form may be submitted in lieu of the application fee. Students requesting a fee waiver must submit a waiver form from the College Board, Upward Bound, Ohio College Access Network (OCAN), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (download PDF), or a letter from a guidance counselor or representative of a social service/community agency stating that the fee would cause financial hardship.
  
  
• Secondary School Report and Letter of Recommendation

  Complete the applicant portion of the Secondary School Report (also available at www.commonapp.org) and give the form to your counselor. Counselors must complete and mail this form to Miami or submit it online through the Common Application website. The Secondary School Report contains space for your counselor to write a letter of recommendation, but if you would prefer to obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher instead, you may do so.
  
  
• Official High School Transcript
  Your counselor must submit your official high school transcript electronically or by mail.
  
  
• ACT/SAT Scores
  These scores must be sent directly from the testing agency. You can request submission of these scores to Miami by contacting ACT or the College Board (SAT). Miami's ACT code is 3294; the SAT code is 1463. This requirement includes the ACT/SAT writing exam.
