About the College
High Quality Liberal Arts Education
The College of Arts and Science has provided the core of Miami University's liberal arts curriculum since its inception. Its central position in the education of our students is demonstrated by the fact that the college is the only division in which all Miami students must take courses. The divisional requirements for the College of Arts and Science parallel the Miami Plan and encourage students to broaden their intellectual horizons.

Our faculty are teachers/scholars in the liberal arts and we in the college place great value on a high quality liberal arts education. Student-faculty interaction takes place in the classroom and increasingly through collaboration in scholarly investigations that often take them around the world.

Great Programs, Majors, and Minors
In addition to our 56 majors and 55 minors, the college offers 3 co-majors:
- Environmental Science
- Environmental Principles & Practice
- Interactive Media Studies
We have recently added a Classical Languages major, as well as new minors in:
- communication
- digital game studies
- disability studies
- global perspective on sustainability
- lusophone studies
